HISTORY

In 1936, a revival was held in Bentonville, Arkansas. Following the meetings, a small group of believers rented the Colonial Hotel on north Main St. to begin the First Assembly of God Church in Bentonville. The Arkansas Presbyter of the Assemblies of God, S. A. Merrill, set the church in order with approximately 30 people in September of 1937. From 1937 to 1953 the church met and held services in various locations throughout the city.

In 1953, property at 808 North Main was purchased and renovation of the structure began. As the congregation grew, several building projects were conducted and services finally held in a new sanctuary in 1970. This construction was shortly followed by the addition of a two-story educational building. The congregation then built a new 10,560 sq ft multilevel building with sanctuary. classrooms, kitchen, and fellowship hall which was completed and dedicated in 1980.

Due to the growing congregation, a new location was secured in 1990 at 2202 South Walton Blvd. on an 18 acre site. Construction of our current facility, a 34,000 sq. ft multi-purpose facility, began. The building was completed debt free and dedicated on November 19, 1996.

In 2016 Bentonville First became known as Northwest Assembly.

In 2020 Northwest Assembly became Northwest Church in order to brand itself as a church. Now with four campuses in Bentonville, Farmington, Springdale, and online, we are reaching Northwest Arkansas and the world for the Kingdom of God!

BELIEFS

Northwest Church belongs to the Worldwide Assemblies of God Fellowship.

At our Northwest Arkansas Assemblies of God church, we believe that…

The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand ofthe Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.

In the blessed hope—the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.

Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

In water baptism by immersion.

The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.

The baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.

In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.

In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.

Annual Celebration 2021 Vision

Easter

Easter weekend is just a few weeks away – April 2-4!  We encourage everyone to prepare with the Spiritual Game Plan:  read the Passion Narrative each week, pray each day and invite 3 guests. The 10a Sunday Experience continues to be the highest attended experience at NWC.  Please consider attending the 6p Saturday experience, or Sunday 8:30 + 11:35a experience to make more room for guests in the 10a.

Unity

God has protected and blessed Northwest Church.  We’ve experienced record-setting growth financially and numerically amidst a pandemic.  When things are going well we need to be on guard from attacks by the enemy.  Northwest Church has experienced incredible unity over the years and we must continue to be intentional in guarding the unity of Northwest Church.

Sound, Media, and Kids

We have upgraded the sound system in the Worship Center and new media will be installed next week.  We are also in the planning stages to upgrade and revamp our NW Kids areas.

New Worship Center

We are currently working with an architect to develop plans for a new worship center.  The existing building will continue to be used for kids and students.  Our goal is to have the plans completed by the end of 2021.  A special business meeting will be called when they are complete.
